norton antivirusNorton Antivirus?

Hi, I have Norton Antivirus installed on my laptop (Centrino duo and 2Gb RAM) and I noticed that when i installed it my laptop got really slow, takes ages to do anything. Is the Norton what is causing this? Should I get rid of it and get another antivirus? Which one?
The one thing almost every real technician in the field agrees with is that Norton Internet Security is a pig that slows systems down while offering only 2nd rate protection at best.

The argument start when asked What would you use.

My choice after testing with so many usually depends on the user. For the average user who does not hit p0rn0 sites on download a lot of music from P2P sites then the free version of AVG Anti-spyware and Anti-Virus are all you need.

If you do hit these sites or share music or files through a P2P service, then PCTool's Spyware Doctor with Antivirus is best. But this cost $39 per year. Still cheaper than Norton.
norton antivirus

This list can go on but these are my choices.

I'm allways sadend when i hear these stories about the different problems that Norton is causeing. I l also know first hand all the things that happened to me when i used it and slowing down my computer was just one of many problems that i experienced.
I would recomend uninstalling Norton and useing AVG instead AVG is not only free but i feel it gives you more protection without the loss of speed and outher problems that Norton cause's.Good luck
any antivirus is a software program, if you install any thing even tually it will slow down your pc, doesnt matter which antivirus it is, because they do background scanning, they reside continuously in the memory.

What i suggest is, go to start menu, run, type ms config
in startup and services, disable the norton antivirus or other things which are loaded in the memory, and only run the software when yonorton antivirusu want to scan the computer, because you dont need it to be in the memory all time which slows down ur pc.
Yes, Norton does slow down computers a lot.

The lightest weight antivirus that would be best for you is NOD32.

First use the norton removal tool

Now go to

and get NOD32
Hello,
Norton 2005 & 2006 slow a lot the system.
But Norton 2007 & 2008 slow less.
If you want another Anti-Virus, the best choice is Kaspersky (hourly updates, 99% Virus detecting rate, no slows the system).
Other then slowing down computers norton is very hard to remove. It is very bad when the company has a removal tool for the product. Why don't they just make it faster any easier to remove in the first place. There are better choices then norton. I use Trend Mirco Internet Security. I recommend changing to Trend Micro.
man...try AVG anti virus...it doesnt make ur pc slow...at all!
