why do i turn on ESPN during playoff Hockey and see Juggling?? Surely "juggling" could not bring nearly the attention and ratings that NHL Playoff Hockey brings... Sure If its a cost thing then fine direct the National attention on the playoffs..theres enough local broadcast for cities to see thier team play during the regular season...But no other Playoffs has nearly the excitement level of Hockey , The suspense...The miraculous, the unthinkable... Over times that last into the night , Fans on the edge of thier seat afraid if they blink they will miss the Final Goal that wins the game. Players Pushing the extents of thier Wills and thier bodies to the brink.
Either who i personally think the NHL and ESPN should both be Ashamed of robbing the casual fan of the chance to witness in all its glory the Quest for the CUP.....
Ever since the lockout, it seems like the ESPN does not give a damn about NHL at all. I was watching ESPNEWS yesterday, and it took 25 minutes into the show for them to even bring up a highlight of a nhl game (but the did manage to have a 15 min. news conference with rapist Kobe Bryant). It might also be that ESPN gets the NBA games and MLB, but it doesn't have the rights to the NHL. So in the end, the league is regretting it more.
If you live close to our border, try getting CBC. You'll have hockey coverage. We'd storm them in the cities if they weren't showing a Canadian team playing...
I don't know much about ESPN, but they seem to be a bunch of losers not knowing the market potespn nhl hockey players national hockey leagueential for NHL.
Oh yah just like terri - Go Habs Go!!!! Montreal like they did in '93, bring the cup home where it belongs!!!!
i agree i also dont like them just talking about kobe lebron, bonds
yesterday i saw the sharks game and since i miss the fisrt goal i switched to ESPN and i see stuff about the kentucky derby
I don't regret it at all, in Canada we have the CBC and TSN for hockey action we get all the games all the time!!!!! It's great to be a Canadian hockey fan!!!!!!!!
Go Habs!!!!!
answer: neither.
oln is a nhl holding spot for a cable company wanting to add a nationwide sports channel to its regional sports channel and nationwide non sports channels. to them a long term gamble on hockey was smart.
espn often said it couldnt even ANNOUNCE hockey highlights were coming up after the break during sportscenter because people would stop watching. this was WHILE espn was doing hockey.
the people missing out on the less available hockey coverage are NOT espn NOR buttman, but the average fan, who isnt on buttman's radar, and seeing how attendence is UP now, they won't be in the future
My personal opinion is ESPN has decided they don't like hockey and they are doing all they can to run it in the ground. They purposely avoid showing anything hockey related. They say there are no fans. They don't give it a chance. The last year of their contract with the NHL they aired the World Cup Championship but did no advertising for it whatsoever. I did not even know they were showing it till I happened to turn the channel on and espn nhl hockey players national hockey leaguethere it was yet on their bottom line they will have a clock running down for the final 36 hours till baseball or football season starts. They show scores for pre season games in all sports but hockey. Half the time they don't even show hockey scores during the regular season. ESPN sucks. You can't blame the NHL, they tried to make a deal with ESPN but they refused. The anchors on SportsCenter are so full of themselves. I can't stand to watch them. The only time I watched ESPN this hockey season was when they showed the Frozen Final Four.
I don't know, but you look like Rachel Bolan
The reason is because its on the outdoornetwork... ESPN didnt want to put up the bucks to host hockey since there would be few fans watching... so the outdoor network picked it up to fill air time until the tour de france comes around.. its actually doing pretty wel lfrom what ive heard..
Yeah Are you rachel Bolan? What the heck are you doing now?
Yes, I agree. The Quest for Lord Stanley's Cup is amazing. The playoffs are wide open, how many other sports have and 8 beating a 1, where the underdog has a real shot. It is a shame that people cannot see Crosby and Ovechkin and other great players night in and night out those two will carry this league for a long time, (hopefully) like Bird and Magic.
F ESPN. OLN is AWESOME! I've never seen this many games in the post season. I'm so happy. ESPN's loss
