I recently had to move all of my files off my hard drive (it was dying), so I moved them to an external drive. I also had to reinstall XP Pro on the new hard drive, as I didn't feel the XP Pro I had been using was solid - meaning it might have been corrupted. Now, what I want to know is how do I (if it is possible) move my software programs back onto the new hard drive and have XP Pro know they are there so I can use them. I don't want to have to reinstall every program agaqualcomm eudora proin, as some of them I won't be able to do so (upgraded them on-line and never bought the CD - lost my book with the serial #s in it, too). If this cannot be done manually, is there a software program out there (freeware/shareware or commercial) that can accomplish this action? My biggest problem is getting Eudora Pro back. Qualcomm's web site doesn't support it any longer, and this is the one BIG program I need back, but I only have the real early version, from which I alwayqualcomm eudora pros upgraded online to their Version 7.0.
Copying the program files is only half of the installation I'm afraid. There are lots of program settings which live in the registry, and you'll have a new, clean registry with your new windows install.
You'll have to reinstall the lot.
You can always reapply the updates to your old versions of things. Not much you can do if you've lost the serial numbers for things though.
